Google Authenticator is considered a secure method of two-factor authentication (2FA). It generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) directly on your device without requiring an internet connection.
While secure, Google Authenticator does not automatically back up codes unless configured. If a device is lost without backup codes or export, recovery may require identity verification with each service.
You can verify TOTP codes using our browser-based 2FA tool.
Authenticator apps are significantly safer than password-only logins. When used correctly with backups and device security, they provide strong protection against unauthorized access.
